Galloping Through Dynasties

In this presentation Dr. Hou-mei Sung, Curator of East Asian Art at the Cincinnati Art Museum, shared wonderful stories about the artworks in the Galloping Through Dynasties special exhibit. The masterpieces include a handscroll of six magnificent horses in a sweeping landscape, winged horses on colorful roof ridge tiles, 2,500 year old imperial bronze horse masks and a painting that was an anguished protest against cruel invaders. Her decades of research into Ming Dynasty court painters has unearthed important information about animal symbolism in Chinese painting which contributed greatly to this exhibit.
